Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a trademark for the name "Break In," sparking speculation among PlayStation fans just days before the company's next State of Play showcase. The trademark, registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, covers video game software and downloadable content, but Sony has not yet offered any official details on what the title represents.
The timing has led many to believe that "Break In" could be a new name for Fairgames, the upcoming multiplayer heist game from Haven Studios. Haven, the Montreal-based developer led by former Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond, announced Fairgames in 2022 with a cinematic trailer that showed a group of characters breaking into a high-tech vault. Since then, the project has gone largely quiet, and some fans now think Sony may be rebranding the game to better fit its core concept.
Others speculate that "Break In" could be a smaller project or a working title for a different unannounced game. Sony has a history of trademarking names that later turn out to be code names or internal references. The State of Play event, scheduled for later this week, is expected to feature updates on several first-party titles, and many viewers will be watching for any sign of Haven's game under a new banner.
Neither Sony nor Haven Studios has commented on the trademark filing.
