Resident Evil Veronica Revisits Claire Redfield's Island Nightmare in 2027

October 8, 2026 - 18:06

Capcom is moving forward with a full remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica under the title Resident Evil Veronica, with a release window set for 2027. The project aims to rebuild one of the most divisive entries in the long running survival horror series while keeping its core story intact.

The original game followed Claire Redfield after the events of Raccoon City. She infiltrates an Umbrella facility in Paris, gets captured, and is sent to Rockfort Island, a remote prison complex run by the Ashford family. The remake will return to that setting, expanding the island and its gothic training facility with modern visuals and reworked level design.

Players can expect the return of Claire as the main protagonist, along with her brother Chris Redfield, who becomes playable later in the campaign. Steve Burnside, the young prisoner who fights alongside Claire, is also expected to appear, though his role may be adjusted for current audiences. The villainous Alexia Ashford and her brother Alfred remain central to the plot.

Combat and movement will likely follow the style of the recent Resident Evil 4 remake, blending over the shoulder shooting with tense exploration and resource management. The game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. A release on Nintendo's next hardware has not been confirmed.

Capcom has not shared a specific date beyond 2027. Fans should expect more details at major showcases in the coming year.
