LA GRANDE - Roll for initiative, play card games, read a comic book, watch a movie or just chat and relax at Nerd Mentality. The nonprofit game lounge offers a space for people who enjoy tabletop games, trading cards, comics, and movies to gather without pressure or expensive membership fees.

The new spot has already drawn a steady crowd of local players and curious newcomers. Organizers say the goal is simple: give people a comfortable place to share their hobbies and meet others who enjoy the same things. Whether someone wants to join a long running role playing campaign, try a quick card game, or simply sit back with a comic, the lounge aims to make that easy.

Volunteers help keep the space running, and donations support the rent, games, and equipment. Regular events include open game nights, movie screenings, and casual meetups for different interests. Members of the community have responded with enthusiasm, stopping by to check out the shelves and tables.

For many in La Grande, Nerd Mentality fills a gap. It gives hobbyists a home base and gives newcomers a friendly entry point. The organizers hope to expand hours and add more events as interest grows.
