Battlefield 6 has sold seven million copies in its first three days, a result that stands in sharp contrast to the troubled launch of Battlefield 2042. Rebecka Coutaz, vice president and general manager for Battlefield Studios Europe, said the turnaround came from a deliberate change in how the team at DICE thought about the series and its players.
The previous entry arrived in 2021 to poor reviews and player frustration over missing features, technical problems and design choices that felt out of step with expectations. Coutaz said the studio spent time listening rather than defending its decisions. That meant going back to what made the franchise work in the first place: large scale battles, clear class roles and destruction that shapes the fight.
She described the recovery as a long process built on internal reflection and close attention to community feedback. According to Coutaz, the team stopped chasing trends and focused on the core experience that longtime fans wanted. The result is a game that has drawn both returning players and newcomers.
Coutaz called the comeback a nice story to tell, but she stressed that the work is not finished. The studio plans to support Battlefield 6 with updates and new content, aiming to keep the momentum going well beyond launch week.
