Hideo Kojima has offered new details about how his upcoming project PHYSINT ended up moving away from PlayStation and toward Xbox. The veteran developer, known for Death Stranding and the Metal Gear Solid series, spoke about the change in direction and what led to the shift in platform partnership.
According to Kojima, the decision came after Sony chose to step out of the collaboration. That left his studio searching for a new partner to help bring the project to life. The process was not instant. It involved conversations with several potential backers before an agreement took shape with Xbox.
Kojima described the transition as a practical one rather than a dramatic falling out. The project needed support to move forward, and when the original arrangement no longer worked, finding another partner became necessary. Xbox eventually emerged as the right fit for the vision behind PHYSINT.
The news adds another layer to the ongoing story of Kojima Productions and its evolving relationships across the industry. Fans have followed the developer's moves closely since his departure from Konami, and this latest chapter shows how fluid those partnerships can be. For now, PHYSINT remains in development, with Xbox attached as its new home.
