Sony has confirmed a fresh wave of upcoming PlayStation titles, including a new God of War game, a Wolverine project, and a revival of Until Dawn. The announcement has sparked excitement, but also debate among fans over one particular creative choice.
The next God of War installment will shift focus to Laufey, the wife of series protagonist Kratos. In Norse mythology, Laufey is a figure often associated with giants, and in the games, she is the mother of Atreus. This move away from Kratos as the lead has drawn mixed reactions. Some players welcome the chance to explore her backstory, while others question whether the series can maintain its momentum without its iconic anti-hero at the center.
Alongside God of War, a standalone Wolverine game is in development, promising a darker, more brutal take on the Marvel mutant. Details remain scarce, but early hints suggest a focus on his feral nature and past. Meanwhile, Until Dawn is getting a new entry, reviving the interactive horror franchise that originally launched on PS4. The project is expected to retain the branching narrative style that made the first game a cult hit.
No release dates have been announced for any of these titles. Sony has not commented further on the fan reactions to the God of War direction.
