October 11, 2026 - 23:27

The long awaited English release of the PC-98 horror title Dead of the Brain is officially set for October 30. This brings one of Japan's most obscure survival horror experiences to a global audience just in time for Halloween.

Originally released in 1992, Dead of the Brain gained a dedicated following for its gruesome storytelling and atmospheric presentation. The game follows a detective investigating a mysterious outbreak in a small town. Players navigate a nightmare filled with zombies, bizarre experiments, and unsettling characters. The PC-98 version is famous for its detailed pixel art and chilling soundtrack, elements that helped it become a cult favorite among import enthusiasts.

For decades, language barriers kept this title out of reach for most Western players. This upcoming Steam release changes that with a complete English translation. The port aims to preserve the original visuals and sound while making the text accessible to new audiences.

Horror fans looking for a vintage experience with a unique aesthetic should mark their calendars. Dead of the Brain arrives on October 30.
