After Toy Story 5, classic Toy Story games are getting re-released

Fans of the original Toy Story video games are getting a nostalgic treat this fall. Following the announcement of Toy Story 5, Disney and Pixar are bringing back two beloved titles from the franchise's past. Toy Story: Retro Roundup! and Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition are both scheduled for release in October.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is a compilation that bundles the classic 1995 side-scroller originally released on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, along with the 1996 sequel Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue. These games were known for their challenging platforming and faithful adaptation of the films. The collection will feature modern quality-of-life upgrades, including save states and rewind functionality, making them more accessible to players who grew up with the originals and newcomers alike.

Meanwhile, Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition brings the 2010 console game to current platforms. This version includes all the content from the original release, including the popular "Toy Box" mode, which lets players explore a sandbox world as their favorite characters. The game was praised for its open-ended gameplay and deep customization options, offering a different experience from the movie's plot.

Both titles will be available digitally on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The releases aim to bridge the gap between the upcoming fifth film and the series' rich gaming history.
